Synopsis

THE MAN WHO KILLED ME, MARIE! Certain day, Bruce Wayne notices that Alfred Pennyworth and Lucius Fox become terribly upset after receiving letters from France each. Bruce finds the whole situation strange, but he doesn't pay much attention to it until he returns home at night from his daily patrol and finds Alfred gone. Batman reads the content of the letter and learns that Alfred has been summoned to Paris to solve an ancient murder mystery.   Batman trails Alfred and Lucius Fox to France, where he learns that both of them were involved in the French Resistance against the Nazis in World War II, and that Alfred is accused of the murder of famed resistance fighter Mlle. Marie by Julia Remarque, who claims to be Marie's daughter.  When Batman confronts Fox and Pennyworth about their secrecy, they are all attacked by Julia and his men. Batman takes down most of the thugs, but when he is about to take down Julia, Alfred attacks from behind and knocks Batman unconscious in order to save Julia from any harm. THE FIVE-FOLD REVENGE OF DR. VOODOO Dr. Voodoo finds his magic blocked from directly stealing Batgirl's soul, but learns that he can endanger her by causing her emotional distress. For this purpose, Voodoo causes the Batcycle to blow up, severely injuring Jeff, the owner of a gas station that allowed Batgirl to keep her vehicle in his garage. Batgirl is filled with guilt and hatred for Voodoo, which are the first emotions in order to weaken her defenses.   Voodoo then manipulates Barbara's boyfriend, Jim Dover and makes him turn aggrressive against her, which makes her doubt him and puts her one step closer to Voodoo's mercy. Going out as Batgirl, she is located by the crazed witch doctor and they clash in a battle on the rooftops of Gotham. Voodoo manages to overpower Batgirl and he uses a special venom that would accelerate Batgirl's emotional downfall.
